1986-1989 EXCEL MANUAL TRANSAXLE - OIL CHANGE SERVICE CAMPAIGN

This bulletin describes the procedure for draining and refilling the 1986 - 1989 Excel 4 speed and 5 speed manual transaxles.

Service Procedure

1.

Raise the vehicle on a lift.

2.

Remove the transaxle oil drain plug and drain the oil from the transaxle. When the draining is complete, reinstall the drain
plug and torque to 22 - 25 Ib. ft..

3.

Remove the transaxle oil filler plug and fill the transaxle with oil until it is level with the bottom of the filler plug hole
(see illustration). When the fluid level is correct, reinstall the filler plug and torque to 22 - 25 Ib. ft..  Lower the vehicle.

4.

Open the hood and place a punch mark over the 6th character on the firewall identification plate. This will indicate that
the campaign procedures have been completed.

Close the hood. The campaign procedure is now complete.
