Power Steering
CHECKING POWER STEERING BELT TENSION
1. Press the V-belt, applying a pressure of 98 N (10 kg, 22 lbs.) at the specified point, and measure the deflection to confirm that it is within the
standard value range.
V-belt deflection [Standard value]
Regular inspection: 11.7 - 15.3 mm (0.46 - 0.60 inch)
New belt: 8.8 - 11.0 mm (0.35 - 0.43 inch)
Used belt: 12.5 - 14.3 mm (0.49 - 0.56 inch)
2. Install the V-belt. Loosen the adjusting bolt and then adjust the tension of the V-belt. After that, tighten the hinge bolt and flange nut to the
specified value.
NOTE: When adjusting tension of the V-belt, tighten the hinge bolt and flange nut temporarily so that the pulley does not lean to one side, then
adjust the tension.
