"G" SENSOR DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE
INSPECTION AND REPAIR PROCEDURE
This TSB supersedes TSB # 02-50-013 and TSB # 01-50-005 to include tone wheel inspection procedure information.
DESCRIPTION:
The 2001 - 2004 Santa Fe Shop Manuals do not provide the inspection and repair procedures for the Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTC) related to the
Electronic Brake Force Distribution (EBD) "G" sensor or a cracked tone wheel. This bulletin provides that information.
"G" SENSOR LOCATION:
The "G" sensor is located under the floor console under the parking brake lever.
"G" SENSOR FUNCTION:
4WD Santa Fe vehicles equipped with the integrated Anti-Lock Brake System (ABS) incorporate Electronic Brake-Force Distribution (EBD) that
automatically optimizes the distribution of braking force to the front and rear wheels depending upon weight transfer. The EBD calculates changes in
weight during braking via the "G" sensor and electronically modulates the hydraulic pressures accordingly to prevent premature lockup of the rear
wheels.
Santa Fes not equipped with ABS incorporate a conventional mechanical proportioning valve which applies braking force in a predetermined ratio to the
front and rear wheels.
