NOTE:
Blow off all debris and clean any corrosion from the splines with rust penetrant spray. The axle splines should be approximately 2mm high as shown.
If not, replace the intermediate axle shaft.
2. Replace the transaxle and/or intermediate axle shaft as needed:

If only the axle shaft splines are worn, replace the axle shaft.

If the transaxle splines are worn, replace the transaxle and axle shaft.

If a new or remanufactured transaxle is not available, repair the differential according to PROCEDURE # 3 - REPAIR DIFFERENTIAL.
NOTE:
Save the engine coolant in a clean container and reuse.
3. Apply MoS2-400 grease (Petroleum grease with Molybdenum Disulfide), P/N 00232-19048 to the shaft splines and transaxle splines.

If a new or remanufactured transaxle is not available, the following repair procedure can be used as an alternative repair for 2WD Santa Fe vehicles.
