15. Reinstall intermediate shaft and confirm intermediate shaft bracket is fully seated with engine block (No gap between engine block and bracket at
bolt mounting point). Use a feeler gauge to check and confirm there is no clearance.
16. Reinstall removed components in reverse order.
Procedure # 2: Transaxle and/or Intermediate Shaft Worn
If a Santa Fe 2.4L 2WD exhibits a driveline grinding noise or does not move, remove the passenger's side intermediate axle shaft according to Section I.
SERVICE PROCEDURE:
1. Inspect the transaxle splines and axle shaft splines as shown below.
