SERVICE PROCEDURE: REAR HATCH STRUT REPLACEMENT

The force required to close the rear hatch may be excessive. Replacing the 2 rear hatch struts will reduce the closing force.

1.

Open rear hatch and support it securely.

WARNING:

The rear hatch will close when you remove one or both of the rear hatch struts.

WARNING:

Place protective material between the support and the rear hatch trim to prevent damage.

Insert a thin screwdriver into the retaining clip on the strut ball joint. Repeat on the opposite end of the strut body.

3.

Install the replacement strut in the same orientation as the old part.

4.

Repeat on the other side.

5.

Close and open the rear hatch to confirm proper operation.

NOTE:

Scrap the old struts.

NOTE:

Do not submit a separate warranty claim for this procedure.
