Idle Position Switch: Testing and Inspection

Idle Switch / Motor Position Sensor Locations

To test the Idle Switch, located on the end of the Idle Speed Control (ISC) Servo (mounted on the throttle body), proceed as follows.

Idle Switch Test Hook-up

1.

Disconnect the motor position sensor (MPS) connector.

2.

Check for continuity between terminal 3 and the body ground.

Depress the accelerator off the idle position and check for continuity, there should be none (infinite ohm). Release the throttle to the idle position
and test for continuity again, there should be continuity (0 ohm).
