1993 - 1994 CALIFORNIA SPECIFICATION SCOUPE ENGINE CONTROL MODULE SERVICE PROCEDURE
ECM EPROM Replacement
Some 1993 and 1994 California specification Scoupes may set a check engine light with no fault code stored. To correct this condition the EPROM must
be replaced inside the Engine Control Module. Below are the instructions for replacing the EPROM in the Naturally Aspirated and Turbocharged
models.
Naturally Aspired
1.
Disconnect the negative battery cable. Remove the Engine Control Module (ECM) from the vehicle following the instructions in the Shop Manual.
2.
With the bottom side up on the ECM, bend the ten tabs straight up to release the cover from the base and separate.
3.
Locate the EPROM. It is located under the removable white retainer. Remove the white retainer. Lift the EPROM from the socket straight up with
equal pressure.
4.
Install the new EPROM carefully with the notch in the EPROM matching the notch in the socket. Use extreme caution not to bend the pins of the
EPROM. Reinstall the white retainer.
5.
Place the cover over the base. Turn the ECM upside down and bend the ten tabs down to fasten the base to the cover.
6.
Install the ECM into the vehicle.
