VEHICLES AFFECTED
Hyundai Motor America is campaigning the following 1989 and 1990 2.4L four (4) and 3.0L six (6) cylinder Sonatas:
1989 and 1990 Ulsan (Korea) built Sonatas up to and including the following VINS:

1990 Bromont (Canada) built Sonatas up to and including the following VIN:

PROCEDURES COVERED
This Campaign becomes effective on February 20, 1990. Any repairs performed prior to February 20, 1990 will not be accepted under this Campaign.
This Campaign covers the installation of a new hood striker assembly and/or rotating the coolant hose damp and the inspection, and if necessary, the
installation of a new fuel hose. These procedures are to be performed regardless of the vehicle's age or mileage.
NOTE:
Sonata 3.0L six (6) cylinders do not need to have the fuel hose inspected.
All owners of the affected vehicles are being notified that they should bring their care in for this service. Your dealership will be reimbursed for parts and
labor costs associated with replacing the hood striker assembly and/or rotating the coolant hose clamp and inspecting or, if necessary, replacement of the
fuel hose.
REPLACED PARTS
Please tag and retain the old hood striker assembly and the fuel hose and gaskets as per Section 7 of the Warranty Policy and Procedures Manual. Place
the removed hood striker assembly into the replacement hood striker assembly's box. Place the removed fuel hose and gaskets into the replacement fuel
hose's bag. Replaced hood striker assemblies and fuel hoses and gaskets may be requested under normal warranty part return procedures. Do NOT
AUTOMATICALLY SHIP the replaced hood striker assemblies and fuel hoses and gaskets to the Warranty Technical Center (WTC) in Fountain
Valley, California, until they are specifically requested via your DCS.
ONLY GENUINE HYUNDAI PARTS MAY BE USED
Only Hyundai Genuine hood striker assemblies (P/N 81110-33000 or its successor) and fuel hoses and gaskets (P/N 31316-33600 and 17512-12000 or
their successors) supplied by Hyundai Motor America's Parts Department may be used for this repair.

All claims for this Campaign will be reimbursed under ONE of the following Campaign Codes:

NOTE:
Even though the 3.0L six (6) cylinder Sonatas do not have the fuel hose inspected, use Campaign Code 010003R1 for replacement of the hood
striker assembly.
