POWER ANTENNA MAST REPLACEMENT (HARADA)
Power antenna masts on 1991 and 1992 Sonatas which are broken or bent can be repaired without replacing the entire antenna assembly. A separate
antenna mast is available for the Harada power antennas. (For power antenna mast replacements on 1989 and 1990 Sonatas, see TSB, Volume 2, page
215 - Body Electrical, Group 90, Number 5 (2-90-0051).
Perform the following steps to replace the mast only:

Two technicians are needed for this procedure. One in the car and one at the antenna.
1.
Remove the antenna mounting nut.
2.
Remove the antenna mast by turning on the radio. This will cause the antenna mast to be pushed out of the mast housing. After the antenna motor
has stopped spooling, gently pull on the white serrated cable until the mast/cord assembly is removed. Remove the contact spring if it did not come
out with the antenna mast.
