Brake Caliper: Service and Repair
FRONT
Removal
1.
Remove wheel/tire assembly.
2.
Remove brake hose from caliper.
3.
Remove caliper assembly by removing the torque plate.

1.
Loosen attaching bolts and separate caliper.
2.
Remove boot ring, using screwdriver.
3.
Remove piston boot, Fig. 2.
4.
Remove piston by applying compressed air through brake hose fitting hose. Keep fingers clear of front of piston.
5.
Using a screwdriver, remove piston seal. Use caution not to damage the cylinder walls.
6.
Apply suitable brake fluid to the cylinder walls.
Assembly
1.
Clean all components with suitable cleaner.
2.
Install piston seal.
3.
Apply suitable brake fluid to the piston outer surface.
4.
Install piston into cylinder, then the piston boot and ring.
5.
Install guide pin boots and pin.
Installation
1.
Install brake pads and cylinder.
2.
Install brake hose to caliper.
3.
Fill brake reservoir and bleed system.
