WARNING:
DO NOT INSTALL ANY ACCESSORY OR AFTERMARKET SEAT COVERS ON THE FRONT SEATS OF A 1999 SONATA
VEHICLE. DO NOT REPLACE THE FRONT SEAT UPHOLSTERY WITH NON-HYUNDAI GENUINE PARTS.
DESCRIPTION:
The 1999 Sonata is equipped with a side air bag in each front seat. This bulletin warns that any modification(s) of the seats will prevent proper operation
of side air bags in a collision and could result in serious injury or death. To insure proper operation of the side air bags:

Do not use any accessory seat covers.
(Example: Lamb's wool covers)

Do not re-upholster the seat backs with aftermarket upholstery.
(Example: Aftermarket leather upholstery)

Always use Hyundai Genuine Parts to repair or replace damaged upholstery.
Refer to the 1999 Sonata Service Manual and/or the Owner's Manual for additional information on the Supplemental Restraint System.
If you encounter a customer who has installed seat covers over the front seats or who has had the upholstery replaced with non-Hyundai genuine parts,
please warn the customer of the dangers of operating the vehicle with the side air bags covered.
