Coolant Temperature Sensor / Switch HVAC: All Technical Service Bulletins
A/C - Intermittently Inoperative

Group: CLIMATE CONTROL

Number.: 97-97-002

Date: MAY, 1997

Model: 1996-97 SONATA

Subject:
AIR CONDITIONING THERMO SENSOR SWITCH

DESCRIPTION:

The air conditioning thermo sensor switch must be submersed in engine coolant in order to operate properly. The switch is located on top of the water
outlet at the thermostat. A low engine coolant level condition may cause the thermo sensor switch to "read" vapor temperature, thus switching the A/C
system "OFF" when the engine reaches operating temperature.

If a customer complains of an intermittent inoperative A/C system, inspect the coolant level in the radiator for a low level condition. Also inspect inside
the coolant recovery container for proper reserve coolant level.
