Sonata GL V6-3.0L (1997)
INSTALLATION
1. Ensure main bearings are correctly installed and in good condition.
2. Ensure rod bearings are correctly installed and in good condition.
3. Install crankshaft. Apply engine oil to journal and pin.
4. Install caps with arrow mark directed toward front of engine. Cap number must be correct.
5. Tighten cap bolts to 75-85 Nm (750-850 kg. cm, 55-61 ft. lbs.).
NOTE: Cap bolts should be tightened evenly in 4 to 5 stages before they are tightened to specified torque.
6. Make certain that crankshaft turns freely and has proper end play.
Standard value, 0.05-0.25 mm (0.0020-0.0098 inch).
Wear limit, 0.3 mm (0.0120 inch).
7. Apply sealant to the area shown in the illustration. Install the oil seal case in the cylinder block.
8. Tighten oil seal case bolt to 10-12 Nm (100-120 kg. cm, 7.3-8.6 ft. lbs.).
9. Tighten the transaxle mounting plate to 10-12 Nm (100-120 kg. cm, 7-9 ft. lbs.).
10. Install the drive plate and the adapter plate, then tighten to 73-77 Nm (730-770 kg. cm, 53-55 ft. lbs.).
11. Install remaining removed components.
