DESCRIPTION:

This bulletin provides information relating to a change in 1999 MY - 2002 MY Sonata rear drum brakes to reduce brake "squeal/squeak" noise. From
November 6, 2001 production, stiffeners have been added to the brake shoes and a dust ring has been added to the backing plate. These new parts may
be used as a field fix for in-use vehicles built before November 6, 2001.

NOTE

For in-use vehicles, replace both shoes and backing plates to reduce brake "squeal/squeak" noise.

The following pictures show the difference between old and new parts.
