Subject
XG, SANTA FE, SONATA CABIN AIR FILTER REPLACEMENT
DESCRIPTION:
This bulletin describes the steps necessary to add or replace the cabin air filter for the XG, Sonata and Santa Fe vehicles (see table for application and
part numbers). The cabin air filter is a replaceable paper element filter that removes particulates such as dust from the air.
The cabin air filter for these vehicles is located in a slot between the blower motor and the air conditioning evaporator. It is accessed by removing the
glove box and glove box housing.
The typical service interval is 12,000 miles or 1 year, whichever occurs first. More frequent maintenance may be required in very dusty environments
which may clog the filter. A major benefit of the filter (if installed) is that it reduces the possibility that mold and mildew may accumulate on the
evaporator. Particulate debris becomes trapped in the replaceable filter and is removed from the system during routine maintenance. Unwanted odors
may also be remedied by replacing the air filter.
NOTE
Replacement of the cabin air filter is considered a maintenance item and not covered under warranty.
