1999-2001 SONATA 02 SENSOR REPLACEMENT AND ECM REPROGRAMMING
This TSB supersedes TSB # 01-36-023 to correct warranty claim submission information.
DESCRIPTION:
Some 1999 - 2001 Sonata vehicles with 2.5L V6 engines may experience the following conditions:

"Check Engine" light on.

Diagnostic Trouble Codes:
^
P0133: Front 02 circuit slow response bank 1.
^
P0134: Front 02 circuit inactive bank 1.
^
P1134: Transition time problem 02 sensor bank 1 sensor 1.
^
P0153: Front 02 circuit slow response bank 2.
^
P0154: Front 02 circuit inactive bank 2.
^
P1154: Transition time problem 02 sensor bank 2 sensor 1.
If a vehicle experiences the above described condition:
1.
Replace both front oxygen sensors with the new part number oxygen sensors (refer to the new part numbers shown).
2.
Clear diagnostic trouble codes.
3.
Replace the ECM software with new logic using the Hi-Scan Pro as explained in this bulletin.
NOTE:
The original front 02 sensor part numbers are no longer available. If either front 02 sensor is replaced for any reason, both front 02 sensors should be
replaced at the same time and the ECM reprogramming must be performed.
NOTE:
If a vehicle has already had this TSB performed previously, just replace the incident 02 sensor (do NOT replace both 02 sensors nor reprogram the
ECM).
