SERVICE PROCEDURE:
NOTE:
The following procedure is illustrated using a CM Santa Fe. This procedure is also applicable to JM vehicles.
NOTE:
For further information, refer to the applicable shop manual.
INSPECTION PROCEDURE:
^ First, Identify that the source of the noise is the 4wd coupling assembly, before replacing.
^
Use Chassis Ears to identify the source of the noise.
^
If 4wd coupling assembly is the source, replace the assembly according to the procedure below.
^
If 4wd coupling assembly is not the source, investigate other causal parts.
^ If it is not clear whether or not the 4wd coupling assembly is the source, inspect for physical damage (dents, impact marks, etc.)
^
If physical damage is noted on the 4wd coupling assembly, replace it.
^
If no damage is noted, investigate other possible parts.
