OUTER CV JOINT

Outer CV joint cannot be disassembled. If faulty, replace as a complete unit.
1. Before separating joint assembly, scribe matching marks on driveshaft and joint assembly.
2. Separate joint assembly with suitable slide hammer, Fig. 4.
3. Remove boot clamps, then the boot.

INNER CV JOINT

1. Remove boot bands.
2. Scribe matchmarks on slide joint housing and inner race before separating joint assembly.
3. Pry off snap ring with screwdriver and pull out slide joint housing.
4. Put matchmarks on inner race and driveshaft.
5. Pry off snap ring and remove ball cage, inner race and balls as an assembly.
6. Cover driveshaft serrations with heavy tape and draw out boot.
