The tape should be even with the edge of the chrome (silver) surface but not over (not sticking up). You don't want to see the tape when
the finisher is installed.

Rear of shift finisher:

Apply tape along the back edge.

The tape should be even with the edge of the chrome (silver) surface but not over (not sticking up).

4.

Reinstall the shift finisher in reverse order.

5.

Make sure the shifter shifts to all gears.

6.

Make sure the felt cloth tape you applied is not visible (not sticking out).

7.

Test drive the vehicle to confirm the noise is gone.

Squeak, creak or ticking noise coming from adjustable dash vents

Confirm the noise is coming from the dash vents.

This noise may occur when driving over bumps or rough roads.

You may be able to duplicate the noise by pushing/moving the dash vent from side to side.

Use a plastic trim tool as shown in Figure 10 to spread the opening on the side of the vent just enough to allow room for a spray nozzle.

NOTE:

Plastic "Trim Tool Set" J-46534 (an "essential tool") is available from TECH-MATE at 1-800-662-2001-option 1.

Spray 3M Silicone Lubricant Plus Wet Type into the area on the side of the vent.

Spray Lubricant on both sides of the vent.

Make sure to spray towards the center of the vent so lubricant will get on the vent center shaft.

Thoroughly clean any lubricant that gets on the visible dash surfaces.
