FRONT COIL SPRING AND SHOCK ABSORBER
Removal and Installation
REMOVAL
1. Remove tires with power tool. See: Wheels and Tires/Service and Repair/Removal and Replacement/Exploded View.
2. Remove wheel sensor and harness connector from shock absorber. See: Brakes and Traction Control/Antilock Brakes / Traction Control
Systems/Wheel Speed Sensor/Service and Repair/Front Wheel Sensor/Exploded View See: Brakes and Traction Control/Antilock Brakes /

3. Remove brake hose bracket. See: Brakes and Traction Control/Hydraulic System/Brake Hose/Line/Service and Repair/Removal and
Replacement/Front/Exploded View.
4. Remove stabilizer connecting rod. See: Stabilizer Bar/Service and Repair/Front Stabilizer/Exploded View.
5. Separate upper link from steering knuckle. See: Wheel Hub/Service and Repair/Front Wheel Hub and Knuckle/Exploded View
6. Remove shock absorber assembly and gusset.
NOTE:
If removing shock absorber is difficult, loosen upper link mounting bolts (vehicle side).
INSTALLATION
Note the following, and install in the reverse order of removal.

Never tap on the ball joint cap of the stabilizer connecting rod with a hammer or a similar item when inserting the stabilizer connecting rod into the
transverse link.

Perform final tightening of bolts and nuts at the shock absorber lower side (rubber bushing), under unladen conditions with tires on level ground.

Removal and Installation
REMOVAL
1. Remove tires with power tool. See: Wheels and Tires/Service and Repair/Removal and Replacement/Exploded View.
2. Set suitable jack under axle assembly to relieve the coil spring tension.
3. Gradually lower the jack and separate shock absorber (lower side) from axle housing.
4. Remove shock absorber assembly mounting nuts (upper side)
( ), and then remove shock absorber assembly.
INSTALLATION
Note the following, and install in the reverse order of removal.

Perform final tightening of bolts and nuts at the shock absorber lower side (rubber bushing), under unladen conditions with tires on level ground.

Never damage shock absorber piston rod when removing components from shock absorber.
