Component Function Check

TELESCOPIC SENSOR

Component Function Check

1.CHECK FUNCTION
1. Turn ignition switch ON.
2. Select "TELESCO SEN" in "Data monitor" mode using CONSULT-III.
3. Check the tilt sensor signal under the following conditions.

Is the indication normal?
YES - INSPECTION END
NO - Perform diagnosis procedure. Refer to See: Accessories and Optional Equipment/Memory Positioning Systems/Testing and
Inspection/Component Tests and General Diagnostics/Telescopic Sensor/Diagnosis Procedure.

Diagnosis Procedure

TELESCOPIC SENSOR

Description

-

The telescopic sensor is installed to the steering column assembly.

-

The resistance of telescopic sensor changes according to the forward/backward position of steering column.

-

The terminal voltage of automatic drive positioner control unit changes according to a change of telescopic sensor resistance. Automatic drive
positioner control unit calculates the telescopic position from the voltage.

Diagnosis Procedure

1.CHECK TELESCOPIC SENSOR SIGNAL
1. Turn ignition switch ON.
2. Check voltage automatic drive positioner control unit harness connector and ground.

Is the inspection result normal?
YES - Replace automatic drive positioner control unit. Refer to See: Accessories and Optional Equipment/Memory Positioning Systems/Memory
Positioning Module/Service and Repair/Automatic Drive Positioner Control Unit/Removal and Replacement.
NO - GO TO 2.
2.CHECK TELESCOPIC SENSOR CIRCUIT
1. Turn ignition switch OFF.
2. Disconnect automatic drive positioner control unit and tilt & telescopic sensor connector.
3. Check continuity between automatic drive positioner control unit harness connector and tilt & telescopic sensor harness connector.
