1. Measure valve deflection as shown, Fig. 26.
2. Deflection limit for exhaust valves is 0.0110 inches, limit for intake valves is 0.0094 inches.
3. If deflection limit is exceeded, measure valve stem diameter and valve guide inner diameter.
4. Valve to valve guide clearance is 0.0016-0.0040 inch for exhaust valves and 0.0008-0.0031 inch for intake valves.
5. If clearance exceeds limits, replace valve or valve guide.
