OUTER JOINT

    The outer joint cannot be disassembled. If faulty, replace as a complete unit.

1. Before separating outer joint assembly, scribe matching marks on driveshaft and joint assembly.
2. Separate joint assembly with a suitable sliding hammer. Fig. 6. Use caution not to damage threads on driveshaft.
3. Cover splines with tape to protect boot. Remove boot.

INNER JOINT

1. Remove both boot bands. Scribe matching marks on slide joint housing and inner race before separating joint assembly.
2. Pry off snap ring with a screwdriver. Fig. 4.
