Thermostat: Service and Repair

WARNING: Never remove the radiator cap when the engine is hot. Serious burns could occur from high pressure fluid escaping from the 

radiator. 

THERMOSTAT & WATER CONTROL VALVE

REMOVAL 

1. Drain engine coolant.

CAUTION:  Perform when the engine is cold.

2. Remove air duct and engine room cover.

3. Remove water suction hose from water inlet side.
4. Remove water inlet and thermostat.
5. Remove intake manifold upper, intake manifold lower and water control valve.
6. Remove fuel injector harness, thermostat housing, water outlet pipe, rear water outlet and heater pipe (between left and right banks).
