SERVICE INFORMATION
If a 2002 Q45 exhibits either of the following symptoms:

Idler pulley is noisy or loose.
^
Alternator belt is damaged, loose, or has fallen off.
NOTE:
If the Alternator belt has fallen off, the following symptoms may occur:
^
Engine overheats
^
There is no cold air from the A/C system
^
"Battery" warning light is ON, or the battery is discharged
^
The Alternator does not charge
There is an improved Idler pulley and Idler pulley bracket available to resolve the incident.
Use the Service Procedure in this bulletin to diagnosis and repair the vehicle if one or more of the above symptoms should occur.
SERVICE PROCEDURE
1.
Confirm incident symptom(s):
^
Noise from the Idler pulley: use a stethoscope (or similar tool) and listen to the idler pulley bearing.
^
The Idler pulley is loose; the bracket is cracked (visual inspection).
^
Alternator drive belt is loose, damaged, or has fallen off (visual inspection).
