Suspension Strut / Shock Absorber: Service and Repair
Disassembly and Assembly Shock Absorber

DISASSEMBLY 

1. Fix piston rod using suitable socket wrench, and remove actuator plate fixing nut with suitable tool. Then remove actuator plate.(with active

damper suspension)

2. While fixing piston rod, remove piston rod lock nut.
3. Remove washer, bushing, distance tube, shock absorber mount bracket, bound bumper cover and bound bumper from shock absorber.

INSPECTION 

Shock Absorber Assembly

Check for smooth operation through a full stroke, both compression and extension.

Check for oil leakage occurring on welded or gland packing portions.

^

Check piston rod for cracks, deformation or other damage. Replace if necessary.

Upper Rubber Seat and Bushing 
Check rubber parts for deterioration or cracks. Replace if necessary.

Coil Spring 
Check for cracks, deformation or other damage. Replace if necessary.

ASSEMBLY

To assemble, reverse disassembly procedures.

Be sure to install actuator assembly correctly as shown in illustration. (With active damper suspension)

Confirm that piston rod end is higher than actuator plate as specified in illustration. (With active damper suspension)
