SERVICE INFORMATION
If an Applied 2002 Q45 exhibits the following symptom:
^
The automatic transmission (A/T) shift selector lever is difficult to shift from REVERSE to DRIVE, or from PARK to REVERSE,
The heater duct located under the center console may be interfering with the shift interlock solenoid release lever and preventing the solenoid from
releasing the selector when the brake is depressed.
Should it occur, use the information in this bulletin to cut out and remove a portion of the shift lock release plate and correct the condition.
SERVICE PROCEDURE
1.
Confirm the incident.
2.
Remove the automatic transmission (A/T) finisher as follows:
A.
Carefully lift up on the FRONT end of the finisher until the two front and two middle clips are released (see Figure 1A).
B.
Carefully lift up on the REAR end of the finisher until the two rear clips are released (see Figure 1B).
NOTE:
Do not lift up on the portions of the A/T finisher that run next to the cup holder as they can break.
