Minor damage, the iron particulates are bonded to, but do not penetrate the clear coat into the color coat. Use repair procedure Step A.

Level 3
Substantial damage, the iron particulates are bonded deeply, reaching the color coat. Use repair procedure Steps A and B.

Note:
Infiniti has evaluated the Finish Kare, Meguiar's, and 3M materials and has found them effective when used in accordance with manufacturer's
instructions and this bulletin. Other suppliers may also provide products which produce similar results.

Service Procedure

Step A

1.

With the vehicle parked in a shaded area, gently apply # 1119 to affected areas of the vehicle, keeping it wet for 4-5 minutes. To avoid scratching
the finish, do not rub with the mitt -- just gently move the solution around. Do not allow the solution to dry before rinsing.

Important:
Do not exceed the 5 minute soak time as this may damage paint or trim.

Rinse, then dry the contaminated surfaces with the terry cloth towels to remove the majority of the water. Use gentle pressure on the towel to avoid
scratching the paint with any loosened iron pariicles.

3.

Apply # 883 (rust remover) directly from the bottle using the applicator provided. Keep the affected areas wet for 5 minutes and allow the solution
to lift the particles. Agitate gently, but do not rub as this will scratch the clear coat. Reapply # 883 to spots which may dry before rinsing.

4.

Rinse thoroughly with a pressure wash of tap water within 5 minutes.

Reapply # 883 as often as needed to remove more difficult spots.

6.

Wash with # 118SC (neutralizer and shampoo) by hand and rinse thoroughly. Gently dry with a fresh towel. Towels used in the above steps may
have iron particles in the nap and could scratch the clear coat.

Step B

If after the above chemical process you find that some particles have penetrated the clear coat, the surface must be refinished. Refer to the Warranty 
Paint and Body SelfStudy Course, the Infiniti Flat Rate Manual or the Infinifi Warranty Policy and Procedures Manual for assistance.

Important:
All of the particles must be removed and the surface neutralized with the above procedure before applying the new clear coat. Iron particles and acids
which remain will wick moisture through the new clear coat and cause blistering.
