Brake Caliper: Testing and Inspection

Cylinder Body

1.

Check inside surface of cylinder for score, rust, wear, damage or presence of foreign materials.

2.

If any of above are evident, replace cylinder body.

3.

Minor damage from rust or foreign materials may be eliminated by polishing surface with a fine emery paper. Replace cylinder body if necessary.

Piston

1.

Check piston for score, rust, wear, damage or presence of foreign materials. Replace if any of these conditions are observed.

2.

Piston sliding surface is plated. Do not polish sliding surface with emery paper even if rust or foreign materials are stuck to sliding
surface.
