SERVICE INFORMATION

When battery electrolyte is accidentally overfilled during normal service, battery acid may drip from the battery tray onto the radiator drain cock, causing
the drain cock to melt on some 1990-92 Q45 vehicles. Other components nearby may also show evidence of corrosion damage from the battery acid.

SERVICE PROCEDURE

If a vehicle has this condition, the following countermeasure parts can be installed:

The area around the base of the old battery tray should be washed with water, neutralized with baking soda, washed again, and allowed to dry before
installing the new battery tray.
