13. Proceed to step 1.

EXCESSIVE IDLE ROUGHNESS-TSB INFORMATION
***Some vehicles may exhibit a rough idle which can be felt through the steering wheel, seat and floor.
It is most noticeable at operating temperature with the transmission in drive and the brake applied.

1.

Start the engine and warm it up until the water temperature indicator points to the middle of the gauge.

2.

Operate the engine at 2000 rpm for 2 minutes under no load.

3.

Turn the engine off.

4.

Disconnect the A.A.C. valve connector.

5.

Start the engine and warm it up until the water temperature indicator points to the middle of the gauge.

6.

Operate the engine at 2000 rpm for 2 minutes under no load.

7.

Race the engine 2 or 3 times under no load then idle.

8.

Turn the idle adjusting screw (located on the idle air adjusting unit) to obtain an idle speed of:
670 rpm ( A/T in "N" position).

9.

Turn the engine off.

10. Reconnect the A.A.C. valve connector.
11. Start the engine and warm it up until the water temperature indicator points to the middle of the gauge.
12. Operate the engine at 2000 rpm for 2 minutes under no load.
13. Race the engine 2 or 3 times under no load then idle.
14. Shift the transmision into drive.

15. Adjust idle speed to 650 rpm by turning the diagnostic mode selector on the ECU (located in the R.F. kick panel).
16. If the idle smoothness is still not satisfactory, continue to adjust the idle speed up to a maximum of 700 rpm (in "D" position).
17. If the idle smoothness is still not satisfactory, replace the ECU and the front engine mount.

NOTE: If the engine idles worse with the A/C on install a new A/C compressor.
