Suspension Strut / Shock Absorber: Service and Repair
Removal and Installation Shock Absorber

1.

Raise and support vehicle, then remove rear wheels.

2.

Remove upper and lower shock absorber mounting bolts. Do not remove piston lock nut with shock absorbers mounted in vehicle.

3.

To remove spring from strut mount assembly in a vise.

4.

Loosen piston lock nut, but do not remove.

5.

Compress spring with tool No. HT71780000 or equivalent, until insulator can be turned by hand.

6.

Remove piston lock nut, then spring tool.

7.

Reverse procedure to install noting the following:
a. When replacing spring, flat end is positioned at the top.
