Axle Shaft: Service and Repair

1.

Raise and support vehicle, then remove rear wheels.

2.

Remove wheel bearing locknut.

3.

Remove side flange mounting bolts from final drive side fig 4--then separate shaft.

4.

On the wheel side remove shaft by tapping with soft hammer.

5.

Reverse procedure to install noting the following;
a. Insert shaft into wheel hub, lightly tighten wheel bearing locknut.
b. attach side flange, side flange bolts, then tighten to specifications.
c. Tighten wheel bearing locknut to specifications.
