The rubber hose "stopper" is required to prevent the drill bit from going too far in the hole and denting the roof.

Then use a small screwdriver to push out the rest of the nut.

Install Rivnuts in the holes where you removed the plastic nuts as follows:

Two rivnuts are included with the bracket kit listed in the Parts Information.
