Fuel Gauge: Testing and Inspection
When the Tank Is Not Full the Needle Goes Up to "F"
STEP 1
1. Disconnect the connector of the fuel tank unit.
2. Turn the starter switch on.
3. Does the needle still point to "F"?
YES
Go to STEP 4
NO
Go to STEP 2
STEP 2
1. Remove the fuel tank unit.
2. Does the float arm operate smoothly?
YES
Go to STEP 3
NO
Replace the fuel tank unit.
STEP 3

Are the resistance values of the fuel tank unit at the "E" and "F" points normal?
NO
Replace the fuel tank unit.
STEP 4

Is the circuit between the fuel tank unit and the fuel gauge normal?
YES
Go to STEP 5
NO
Repair a short circuit in the circuit.
STEP 5

Is the printed circuit of the meter assembly grounded securely?
YES
Check the fuel gauge and replace it if necessary.
NO
Repair or replace the printed circuit board.
