Wheel Cylinder: Service and Repair
Removal and Installation
REMOVAL PROCEDURE
1. Remove the brake linings. Refer to Brake Shoe Replacement.
2. Disconnect the brake pipe.
3. Remove the bolts.
4. Remove the wheel cylinder.
INSTALLATION PROCEDURE
1. Install the wheel cylinder.
2. Install the bolts.
Tighten
Tighten the bolts to 18 Nm (24 ft. lbs.).
NOTICE: Refer to Fastener Notice in Cautions and Notices.
3. Connect the brake pipe to the wheel cylinder.
Tighten
Tighten the brake pipe fitting to 18 Nm (13 ft. lbs.).
4. Install the brake linings. Refer to Brake Shoe Replacement.
5. Bleed the brake system. Refer to Hydraulic Brake System Bleeding in Hydraulic Brakes.
