Compress the shaft lock shield assembly (2) using J 23653-SIR. 

2. Remove the bearing retainer (1) from the steering shaft assembly. 
3. Discard the bearing retainer (1). 
4. Remove J 23653-SIR from the steering shaft assembly. 

5. Remove the following parts from the steering shaft assembly:

1. The shaft lock shield assembly (5)
2. The turn signal cancel cam assembly (4)
3. The upper bearing spring (3)
4. The upper bearing inner race seat (2)
5. The inner race (1)

Assembly Procedure 

Tools Required 
J 23653-SIR Lock Plate Compressor

1. Lubricate the following parts with synthetic grease.
