Starter Motor: Service and Repair

Removal Procedure

CAUTION:  Refer to Battery Disconnect Caution in Service Precautions.

1. Disconnect the battery negative cable. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnect/Connect Procedure.
2. Raise and suitably support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle in General Information.
3. Remove the front tire and wheel assembly from the right side of the vehicle. Refer to Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation in Tires and

Wheels.

4. Remove the differential carrier shield mounting bolts, if equipped.
5. Remove the differential carrier shield, if equipped.
