Brake Caliper: Service and Repair
Brake Caliper Bracket (Rear)

REMOVAL PROCEDURE 

IMPORTANT:  Remove the anchor bracket only under the following circumstances.
-

The anchor bracket is damaged.

-

You are removing the rotor for refinishing or other service.

1. Remove the caliper. Refer to Brake Caliper Replacement (Rear Wheel).

2. Remove the anchor bracket bolts.
3. Disconnect the anchor bracket from the mounting plate.
4. Remove the park brake rear cable. Refer to Park Brake Cable Replacement (Rear Cables Straight Pull System) or Park Brake Cable Replacement

(Rear Cables) in Park Brake.

5. Remove the park brake shoe and lining. Refer to Brake Shoe Replacement in Park Brake.
6. Remove the rear axle shaft. Refer to Axle Shaft Replacement in Rear Drive Axle.
7. Remove the mounting plate bolts, washers, and nuts.
8. Remove the mounting plate from the axle housing.

INSTALLATION PROCEDURE 

NOTICE:  Refer to Fastener Notice in Cautions and Notices.

1. Install the mounting plate to the axle housing.

Tighten the mounting bolts to 65 Nm (47 ft. lbs.).

2. Install the rear axle shaft. Refer to Axle Shaft Replacement in Rear Drive Axle.
3. Install the rear park brake shoe and lining. Refer to Brake Shoe Replacement in Park Brake.
4. Install the park brake rear cable. Refer to Park Brake Cable Replacement (Rear Cables Straight Pull System) or Park Brake Cable Replacement

(Rear Cables) in Park Brake.

NOTICE:  Refer to Fastener Notice in Cautions and Notices.

5. Install the anchor bracket to the mounting plate

Tighten the anchor bracket mounting bolts to 70 Nm (52 ft. lbs.).

6. Install the caliper. Refer to Brake Caliper Replacement (Rear Wheel).
