1. Coat the camshaft lobes and the bearing surfaces with an approved high viscosity lubricant containing zinc.

IMPORTANT:  Handle the camshaft carefully to prevent damage to the camshaft bearings.

2. Install the camshaft into the engine block.

Refer to Camshaft Installation.

IMPORTANT:  Line up the timing marks on the camshaft sprocket and the crankshaft sprocket dot to dot. When these dots are lined up dot to
dot, the number four cylinder is at the top dead center of its compression stroke. Position the distributor rotor facing the cap hold down mount
nearest the flat side of the housing.

3. Install the balance shaft drive gear.

Refer to Balance Shaft Replacement for alignment of the balance shaft drive gear and the driven gear.

4. Install the timing chain and sprockets.

Refer to Timing Chain and Sprockets Installation.

IMPORTANT:  Whenever a new camshaft is installed, do the following procedures:

Replace all the valve lifters.

-

Change the engine oil.

-

Change the engine oil filter.

-

Add an approved Engine Oil Supplement.

NOTICE:  Failure to properly align the crankshaft position sensor reluctor ring may result in component damage and effect OBD II system
performance.
