Audible Warning Device: Service and Repair
Some models use an audible warning system to remind the driver to fasten the seat belts, remove the ignition key, and turn off the headlamps.
This system uses an alarm that sounds three to five times and activates a warning lamp on the instrument panel cluster when the ignition switch is turned
to the RUN position and the driver's seat belt is not buckled. If the ignition switch is turned OFF and the headlamps are ON, the Body Control Module
(BCM) will sound (chime) to remind the driver to turn off the headlamps. The alarm will also sound if the driver's door is opened and the key is left in
the ignition switch. If the instrument panel lamp dimmer thumbwheel is turned to the OFF position and the headlamps are ON, the alarm will not sound
if the ignition switch is turned to the OFF position.
The relay center is located under the hood. The DRL relay, horn relay, and the fuel pump relay mount to the underhood bussed electrical center. For

The seat belt warning system switch is located in the seat belt buckle and provides ground when the buckle is not joined with the other part of the belt.
Without the belt being buckled, the retractor switch is closed and the alarm is activated when the ignition switch is in the RUN position.
The headlamp-on warning circuit activates when the headlamps are ON and the ignition switch is in the OFF, LOCK, or ACC positions. The BCM
senses voltage from the instrument panel dimmer switch and activates an audible warning. For more information, refer to Audible Warnings in Electrical
