Wheel Fastener: Service and Repair

REMOVAL PROCEDURE 

Tools Required

J 6627-A or equivalent Wheel Stud Remover

1. Raise the vehicle. Support the vehicle with safety stands.
2. Remove the tire and the wheel.

NOTICE: Support the caliper with a piece of wire to prevent damage to the brake line.

3. Remove the brake caliper. 

IMPORTANT: 

-

Do not hammer on a wheel bolt.

-

When you replace the wheel bolts on vehicles with four wheel antilock (4 W A L) brakes remove and replace only one wheel bolt at a time in
order to prevent misalignment of the speed sensor tone wheel.

4. Remove the hub bolt using the J 6627-A or equivalent.

INSTALLATION PROCEDURE 

1. Install the hub bolt to the hub and bearing assembly.

2. Install four washers and the nut to the bolt.
3. Tighten 

Tighten the nut 130 Nm (95 ft. lbs.), drawing in the bolt.

4. Remove the nut and the washers.
5. Install the brake caliper.
6. Install the tire and the wheel. 
7. Lower the vehicle.
