Insert J 21552 or equivalent into bore of rack piston (26) while turning worm shaft (13) counterclockwise. The rack piston (26) will be forced
onto J 21552 or equivalent and will hold the rack piston balls (25) in place. 

7. Races (15 and 17) and thrust bearing (16) to worm shaft (13) 
8. Worm shaft (13) to housing (20).
9. Valve. 

10. Rack piston (26) to worm shaft (13) from J 21552 or equivalent, using J 8947or equivalent to compress seals.

Hold J 21552 or equivalent tightly against worm shaft and turn stub shaft clockwise until rack piston (26) is seated on worm shaft (13).

IMPORTANT
-

Make sure that all rack piston balls (25) are reinstalled in the rack piston. Improper rack piston ball installation may result in personal injury.

11. Rack piston plug (27).

Tighten
-

Rack piston plug (27) to 150 Nm (111 ft. lbs.) 

12.  Housing end plug.
13.  Pitman shaft and side cover.

REMOVE OR DISCONNECT

Tools Required:

J 4245 or equivalent Internal Snap Ring Pliers

1. Power steering gear. Refer to Power Steering Gear Replacement.
