INSTALLATION PROCEDURE

J8614-01 Pinion Flange Holder

1. Apply special seal lubricant to the inside of the pinion flange.
2. Install the new pinion flange.

Notice:  Refer to Fastener Notice in Service Precautions.

3. Install the washer and a new nut using J8614-01.

Tighten the nut to the same position as marked during removal. Continue to tighten the nut 10 degrees after the marks. 

4. Install the propeller shaft. Refer to Propeller Shaft Replacement (Front Two-Piece Rear) in Propeller Shaft. Align the marks made during removal.

Components must be reassembled in the same position.

Notice:  Refer to Fastener Notice in Service Precautions.

5. Install the bolts to the flange.

Tighten the bolts to 75 Nm (55 ft. lbs.). 

6. Check the axle lubricant level. Add lubricant as necessary. Refer to Recommended Fluids and Lubricants.

7. Install the left front underbody shield bracket, if equipped.
8. Install the front underbody shields, if equipped.
9. Connect the battery negative cable.
