Power Window Switch: Description and Operation
A permanent magnet motor operates each of the power side windows. Each motor raises or lowers the glass when voltage is supplied to it. The direction
the motor turns depends on the polarity of the supply voltage. The side window switches control the supply voltage polarity.
The LH Front Door Lock and Side Window Switch controls all motors. The other window switch controls only the window regulator motor in that door.
Each motor is protected by a built-in circuit breaker. If a window switch is held too long with the window obstructed or after the window is fully up or
down, the circuit breaker opens the circuit. The circuit breaker resets automatically as it cools.
LH DOOR LOCK AND SIDE WINDOW SWITCH OPERATION
When the ignition Switch is in RUN, battery voltage is supplied to the LH door lock and side window switch through the circuit breaker and the CKT
1001 (DK GRN) wire. When the LH front window up switch is operated, battery voltage is supplied to the LH front side window regulator motor
through the CKT 164 (DK BLU) wire. The window motor is grounded through the CKT 165 (BRN) wire and the express down module. The regulator
motor runs to drive the window up. When the down switch is operated, battery voltage is supplied to the window regulator motor in the opposite
direction through the CKT 165 (BRN) wire. The window regulator motor is grounded through the CKT 164 (DK BLU) wire and the express down
module. The motor runs to drive the window down.
RH DOOR LOCK AND SIDE WINDOW SWITCH OPERATION
When the ignition switch is in RUN, battery voltage is supplied to the RH door lock and side window switch through the circuit breaker and the CKT
1001 (DK ORN) wire to terminal F. When the up switch in the RH door lock and side window switch is operated, battery voltage is supplied to the RH
front side window regulator motor through the CKT 666 (DK BLU) wire. The motor is grounded through the CKT 667 (BRN) wire, the down contact in
the RH door lock and side window switch, the CKT 167 (TAN) wire and the down contact in the LH door lock and side window switch. The motor runs
to drive the window up. When the down switch in the RH door lock and side window switch is operated, battery voltage is supplied to the window
regulator motor in the opposite direction through the CKT 667 (BRN) wire. The motor is grounded through the CKT 666 (DK BLU) wire, the up contact
in the RH door lock and side window switch, the CKT 166 (LT BLU) wire and the up contact in the LH door lock and side window switch. The motor
runs to drive the window down.
