9. Remove the mounting bolts from the left half of the splash shield. Pull back the splash shield. (Figure 5)

Remove the crankshaft pulley bolt, then remove the crankshaft pulley. (Figure 6)

Remove three mounting bolts from the front of the lower cover. Pull back the front edge of the cover about an inch. Use a socket or similar tool to
hold the cover away from the block. (Figure 7)
