Torsion Bar, Replace

1.

Remove the height control arm adjusting bolt.

2.

Scribe location and remove the height control arm from the torsion bar and third crossmember.

3.

Scribe location and withdraw the torsion bar from the lower control arm.

4.

Grease torsion bar ends and height control arm. Reverse removal procedure to install the torsion bar, Fig. 8.

5.

Turn adjuster bolt to location marked upon removal.

Torsion Bar Adjustment

1.

With vehicle on a level surface, rock vehicle up and down to settle suspension.

2.

Loosen nuts at front strut bar.

3.

Measure clearance between rubber bumper and the lower control arm. The proper clearance should be 7/8 inch.

4.

To adjust height, turn adjusting bolt inward to raise height or outward to decrease height.

5.

Tighten strut bar nuts.
