Evaporative Check Valve: Description and Operation

ENGINE NOT RUNNING
Fuel vapor from roll over fuel trap is fed into check and relief valve. When fuel vapor pressure rises to 1.0-1.4 in. Hg the check valve opens which allows
vapor to enter canister. When check valve is in open position, valve at air cleaner side remains closed, preventing flow of vapor into air cleaner.

ENGINE RUNNING
When a vacuum is created in fuel tank and pressure difference between relief side and fuel tank rises to 0.2-0.6 in. Hg, relief valve opens and allows
ambient air to enter fuel tank through air cleaner. Ambient air replaces vapor in fuel tank, bringing tank back into an atmospheric pressure condition.
