Using Table 1 as a guide, tighten the pinion flange nut to 25 ft.lb. with a hand-held torque wrench, and measure the turning preload (inch-pounds)
with a torque wrench. Repeat this process, as necessary, until the measured turning preload value is the same as the initial turning preload value
recorded in Step 6 above.
IMPORTANT
The pinion flange nut must only be tightened as described above, to avoid further collapse to the collapsible spacer. Do not use an air impact
wrench. Do not exceed 150 ft.lb. of torque on the pinion flange nut.
IMPORTANT
Do not exceed 150 ft.lb. Permanent damage to the collapsible spacer will result.

Restake the pinion flange nut with a chisel (Figure 5).
15.
Reconnect the propeller shaft to the pinion flange using the alignment marks made in Step 4. Reinstall the four bolts to the pinion flange and
tighten the bolts to 46 ft.lb.
16.
Reinstall the drain plug and tighten it to 58 ft.lb.
17.
Refill the rear axle case with hypoid gear oil (GL-5) to just below the filler hole.
18.
Reinstall the filler plug and tighten it to 58 ft.lb. Lower the vehicle.
19.
Affix a campaign label (Part No. 2-90028-700-0) adjacent to the manufacturer's identification label located inside the driver's door. Using a
ball-point pen, fill in the label with Campaign Number 955-001, the Isuzu dealer code, and the repair date.

condition affecting the rear differential pinion oil seal may exist in certain 1994-95 Isuzu Pickup models.
WHAT IS THE DEFECT?
The rear differential pinion oil seal may leak gear oil due to deterioration of the pinion oil seal sealing surface. Continued operation of the vehicle with a
low gear oil level will result in damage to the rear axle assembly.
